{"id":658,"date":"2020-07-14T20:41:40","date_gmt":"2020-07-14T20:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fpganow.com\/?p=658"},"modified":"2020-07-20T22:55:12","modified_gmt":"2020-07-20T22:55:12","slug":"ordered-10-gigabit-configuration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fpganow.com\/index.php\/2020\/07\/14\/ordered-10-gigabit-configuration\/","title":{"rendered":"[Updated] Ordered 10 Gigabit Configuration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[Updated]:<\/strong> It turns out there are 2 editions of this board, and it looks like the premium one with a 10 Gigabit SFP+ connector is not yet available in the USA.\u00a0 However, I did some research and the lesser version of this board &#8211; the 3EV &#8211; has a SYZYGY connector, which supports SFP+ peripherals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">So I ordered these 2 accessories and am awaiting a response from the manufacturer in case they actually do have one of the premium boards available:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/opalkelly.com\/products\/szg-dualsfp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/opalkelly.com\/products\/szg-dualsfp\/<\/a> ($79.95)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.radwell.com\/en-US\/Buy\/FINISAR\/FINISAR\/FTLF8524P2BNV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.radwell.com\/en-US\/Buy\/FINISAR\/FINISAR\/FTLF8524P2BNV<\/a> ($27.28)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have a bigger budget than that of a hobbyist, or are a hobbyist that is willing to spend more to create your own FPGA accelerated Network card, then read on.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">So the Zynqberry board may look cool and all, but it is limited to a 100Mbit network connection.\u00a0 Now from all the 10 gigabit boards, I wanted to pick one that has that &#8216;hobbyist&#8217; feel to it.\u00a0 Something I can put on my desk and connect it with USB to my desktop in order to program it.\u00a0 And if on the road, do the same with my laptop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This board will allow me to test out with an actual 10 gigabit connection.\u00a0 I also have some code written somewhere that will do some basic parsing.\u00a0 So while I wait for this board and the Zynqberry to arrive, I will start doing some digging.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And how does &#8220;The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly&#8221; end?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are two kinds of people in the world, those with guns and those that dig. You dig.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Well, I want to expand on this knowledge and say that:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are two kinds of developers in this world, those with LabVIEW FPGA and those that debug.
